In order to make a solidary contribution against the spread of Covid-19, the company founder of Lupburger FIT AG, Carl Fruth, wants to provide the citizens of his home town of Lupburg and the neighboring community of Parsberg with newly developed filter media free of charge, which are a hygienic and reusable alternative for are non-medical mouth-nose masks.
Mouth-nose masks are a means of protecting people as well as possible from a virus infection by coughing or sneezing. What is important is the direction of the view: you do not primarily protect yourself, but the people in the immediate vicinity. However, it is essential to ensure that the medical equipment is reserved for specialist staff in hospitals, care facilities, etc. In turn, mouth-to-nose masks are in short supply for the general population. As an alternative to DIY masks made of fabric, the product designers at FIT AG have developed a special filter holder (FiT) with 3D printing support that can be combined with almost any filter material to form a makeshift mask. By simply and quickly changing the filter, the filter holder can be used several times.
The advantages over a fabric mask are the construction of the filter holder. These are two size-adjustable plastic baskets, between which a filter material, for example a handkerchief or special fleece, is inserted. The filter holder has certain advantages over a sewn DIY mouth-nose mask. If the air is humidified, only the filter has to be replaced and not the entire fabric mask, the plastic can be easily disinfected each time the filter is replaced and is therefore immediately available again, so it does not have to go through the washing, drying and possibly ironing process.
On Wednesday, April 15th, all interested citizens from Lupburg and Parsberg can pick up a filter holder from FIT AG free of charge. The company sets up a drive-in counter at its location (Am Grohberg 1 in 92331 Lupburg) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., via which every driver can pick up up to three filter carriers for himself and his relatives. “In times of crisis you have to stick together.
